The 7 Second Rule
If you use the web a lot you’ll probably be acquainted with this even thou you may not be aware you do it when you are taking a look at sites.
When anyone is looking online they have a fair idea of what they are looking for i.e. Vacations, trainers, gifts, concert tickets etc so when they type into the search site and click search they will see a catalogue of search results similar to what they have type in and they are more a likely never going to go past the first page of the search website
So if you’re a domain owner and have paid search site experts to get you onto the first page of Google, Yahoo, Bing here’s where the 7 second rule kicks in.
You see like I claimed earlier the user already has got a fair idea of what they are hunting for so when they come to your site they want to see the product or service they have searched for, so you will need to have your product or service on this webpage or a piece of info pertinent to the user’s search that is reachable on your site inside a few clicksAlso have your information above the line nobody likes to scroll down a page to find what they are attempting to find.
You need to think like the individual that comes to your website and also how you use the web when searching for something the internet is all about getting information fast so if someone comes to your website and you don’t have there attention for seven seconds they’re leaving no doubts about it they’re gone and this is because you haven’t got the information the user wants maybe you do but it is not being seen you’ve paid money to get the top of Google but if the content isn’t relevant to the user’s search they will not stay.
If you have got the user’s attention for seven seconds they like what they see and will dive more deeply into your website and more and likely make contact with you by online form, e-mail, phone or if you are selling something they will buy from you and that is what you need. So think about the website page you have ranked well in Google and how it’s possible for you to improve it so you get folks to remain on the webpage for seven seconds and dive further into your website if you can do this you’ll see rise in income or your contact list growing.
